It's no surprise that photography, particularly professional photography is super important to me. I make attempts where I can to take photos of us as a couple or of myself during this pregnancy such as my Baby Bump Photos but its not quite the same images. I also contemplated the idea that this may be my only pregnancy and wanted to be sure it was documented as not everyone is blessed with this journey.
With all the rain that Toronto was experiencing, I was worried that this shoot wouldn't go through. We had a hard time also figuring out a perfect location as every flower filled/cherry blossom area was swarmed with tourists. The time of the year was perfect for the setting but the logistics were challenging with travel time and uncerain weather. With a wedding and a vacation on the horizon, my dates were limited for rescheduling plus the continuous fear that I'd go into labour any moment and this opportunity would be gone. In the end, we settled for the path located near our condo - which always holds a special place in our hearts, even if we've photographed it multiple times. It only deepens our memories and adds new ones each time we pass by and were were able to feature a different section of it for these photos.
I've been a long time admirer of Carolyn Bentum's work so I was thrilled that she would be able to work with us on the photoshoot. I can't quite remember where I first saw her photography but admired them through social media for a long while. So when it came time to finding a photography - she was quite literally the top of my want list. Her images are light, airy with beautiful attention to color. She was such a pleasure to work with and despite the awkwardness that photoshoots can come with, she directed us with ease and helped us to feel relaxed the entire time. I'm so glad that I will have these momentos to share with others and with our little one in the future!
